FRECCIANERA:
Whether you’re a wine lover, a sparkling wine connoisseur or an afficionado of Franciacorta: Freccianera will always astound you. By way of its aromas and flavours, you will enter into the story of a family that, since 1927, has cultivated the art of winemaking and for over half a century the mastery of the Franciacorta Method respecting the three Freccianera guiding principles: hand harvested grapes exclusively grown in its own vineyards, bottling and aging within the family Cellar.
A story of heritage, history, quality and passion with one sole purpose: to astound you, sip by sip, with a quality you have never experienced before.
DECADES OF PASSION:
Almost a century has passed since 1927, when Antonio Berlucchi began producing quality wines, using grapes from his vineyard, hand-harvesting, aging and bottling them within the fresco-adorned walls of his own cellar in Borgonato di Corte Franca. A founding member of the Franciacorta Consortium, and amongst the first to join the Franciacorta DOC and DOCG, the winery has faithfully interpreted Franciacorta’s method and regulations with artisanal care and mastery since 1969. Today, style, elegance, freshness and minerality are the unique qualities for which Freccianera is celebrated worldwide.
CONNECTED TO THE LAND:
The Berlucchi family’s connection to these lovingly-tended 70 hectares of vineyard, in the immediate vicinity of their Borgonato cellar, spans three entire generations. On this precious land, quality is always favoured over quantity, and production per hectare is carefully restricted in favour of the harvest’s excellence. The grapes are cultivated in the heart of Franciacorta’s morainic, calcareous and dry soil, blessed by temperate climates since times of old.
THE TERROIR:
Freccianera’s vineyards are nestled in the very heart of the Franciacorta
region, between Corte Franca, Provaglio d’Iseo and Adro in the province
of Brescia – with its morainic amphitheatre, formed in the Third Ice Age
over 300,000 years ago. The boundary of each Freccianera vineyard has
been mapped and studied for decades, providing invaluable knowledge
for assembling the Cuvée. The nearby Lago d’Iseo provides cool breezes in
Spring and Summer, and mitigates the cold, Northern winds in the Winter. A
consortium zoning study completed in the 1990s identified six varieties of
soil suitable for viticulture – four of which constitute the Freccianera terroir
variety: Glacial Fluvial, Fine Deposits, Subtle Moraine and Deep Moraine.
A FAMILY AFFAIR:
Inseparably linked to one’s origins, raised with respect and love for the
land whilst embracing the world today, sharing family values and finding
wonder in what takes time in the pursuit of excellence, generation after
generation. This is the Berlucchi family’s impeccable style. Antonio’s
children – Francesco, Gabriella, Marcello, Roberto and Pia Donata – and his
grandchildren, Nicola, Tilli, Alessandro, Elena, Antonio, Ignazio, Antonello,
Gabriella, Lorenzo, Matteo and Sebastiano, the third generation currently
at the helm of one of the most esteemed and ancient Franciacorta
wineries. It is no wonder that Freccianera has remained a family-owned
business. An expanding cellar in which the Franciacorta wines mature
under authentic 14th-century vaults, and guests are welcomed into rooms
adorned with historic frescoes, the oldest dating back to the Renaissance.
HANDCRAFTED IN OUR OWN CELLARS:
Throughout its history, Freccianera has celebrated a century of passion by always adhering to three indispensable principles to produce its Franciacorta wines: grapes strictly harvested from its own vineyards with the maturation and bottling process personally curated in its cellars using exclusively autochthonous Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero grapes. The wines that celebrate a single occasion have taken a lifetime to cultivate.
OUR WINES:
Freccianera offers seven Franciacorta wines: four award-winning single-vintages, Extra Brut, Saten, Rosa, Nature, two Casa delle Colonne Reserves and Brut 25, one of the most treasured and popular Blanc de Blancs in Italy. The cellar’s most traditional still wines are the Màndola Curtefranca Rosso and the Ca’ Brusade Bianco. A grand total yearly production of over 400,000 bottles are sold in the best restaurants and wine boutiques in Europe, the United States, China, Japan and Central America.
